Red lentils can be boiled or steamed without soaking in water.
Tasty with rice or vegetables.
Rezept:Curry with red lentils and spinach
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of red lentils
- 3 cups of water
- 1 onion hacked
- 2 pieces of garlic, hacked
- 2 spoons of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of kumin
- 1 teaspoon curcuma
- 1 teaspoon red pepper powder
- 1 teaspoon grinded coriander
- 1 tin of tomates
- 4 cups of fresh spinach, hacked in larger pieces
- Juice of one lemon
- Salt and pepper
Recipe:
- Wash lentils in a sieve.
- Heat olive oil in a pot, fry onions and garlic until they are soft.
- Add the spices and fry for another 2 minutes to develop full flavour.
- Add lentils into the pot, stir and cover them with the onion mix.
- Add the hacked tomatoes and the water, cook gently at medium temperature, until the lentils are soft and have soaked up all water (about 20-25 minutes).
- As soon as the lentis are soft, add the spinach and let it collaps.
- Add lemon, salt and pepper.
- Serve hot with rice or flatbread. Enjoy!
