L’Oasi del Pescatore
Mauro fishes and Maria cooks. The idyllic stretch of beach, sheltered by willow trees with black lava sand and clear water, was where Mauro’s fishing boat docked more than 30 years ago.
During that time, his wife Maria prepared the fresh fish directly on the beach. For family and friends who passed by. Now and then. Then more regularly. She prepared fish fresh from the lake, vegetables from her own garden and home made pasta.
L´Oasi del Pescatore truly is an beautiful oasis – a refuge directly at the sea side. The boat with which Mauro goes out to the lake everyday, is still docked at that same place. The wooden design of the place is charmingly simple and natural. You can sit at small lovely tables literally with your feet in the sand of the beach, under the shady roof of the gazebo or in the restaurant with large windows towards the lake.
Bit by bit the idea grew to open a restaurant. But it should definitely still remain their idyllic stretch of beach and the place where Mauro docks his boat. Because there they all felt happy. And it is still like exactly like that today.
On the menu “bio” or “km0” are not advertised. But when you ask Maria where her ingredients come form, she simply says: from here. Delicious homemade pasta and desserts, fish fresh from the lake, everything what the vegetable garden offers at that moment. (Don’t expect tomatoes or zucchini in fall. You will get heavenly cicoria instead.) Maria cooks for many more guests than she did years ago. And yet she takes time for a personal chat with everyone. Her team supports her wirh heart and soul in the kitchen and in serving the guests. They all seem like one lovely family.
