Le Moline
In the heart of the quiet of the countryside, in a place that has always been pure and has never been farmed in any other way than organic, lies Le Moline estate. Just a short distance from many attractions such as thermal baths, lakes, the sea, archaeological sites and medieval towns.
The farm “Le Moline” takes its name from the stream that crosses it. It has historically powered several water mills along its course. Today, the creek and several surface springs provide fresh water for the plants and animals of the azienda.
Tradition and family values
In 1919, together with 18 comrades from the First World War, Bino founded the Cesare Battisti cooperative, which brought agriculture to the region’s first flowering. It was revived after World War II.
In the next generation, under the direction of Antoniuccio, the peach orchards were abandoned due to high labor costs. He concentrated on the production of oil, and developed cattle breeding and horse husbandry, a great passion of his. Antoniuccio was a co-founder of the Lazio breeders’ cooperative, also known as Copal.
After Antoniuccio’s death, the company lay dormant for a few years until his son Agostino, a dentist by trade, resumed horse breeding.
“As a child, I helped grandfather Bino in the peach orchard and my father Antoniuccio with the animals.. Ich wollte einen Weg finden fortzuführen, was sie geschaffen haben.“
Later the children Matilde and Gabriele took over the management.
Hazelnut and raspberry groves were planted, Cinta Senese pig and Angus cattle farming started. Then followed the production of honey and jams, and the opening of the company butcher’s shop. Four existing buildings have been restructured for agritourism.
“We owe it to our great-grandparents and especially to Bino that we are allowed to run this wonderful farm today. Our grandparents and parents passed on their passion for nature and agriculture. This is how our family business was founded. They still accompany us with love and experience in realizing our dream.”
Sustainable Operation.
Le Moline’s guiding principle is the absolute avoidance of chemical products, pesticides and herbicides.
A photovoltaic system makes the farm almost self-sufficient in terms of energy and feeds a charging station for electric cars.
“We run our farm with respect for nature, animals and the environment. We take this into account throughout the production chain. Not only with responsibility, but with love. Our animals are treated with care because they are like part of our family.”
Guests and customers can thus enjoy a healthy environment, get to know the work of the farm and taste the honest and natural products. The company and the products are organically certified.
A little note from us: When Agostino talked about his animals and our conversation turned to the meat specialties and salumi, he almost had tears in his eyes. We know every farm whose products we sell and Le Moline is a paradise for the pigs, cattle, horses, goats, sheep, ducks, geese, chickens, cats and dogs that live here. They really belong to the family. Unfortunately, keeping livestock without benefit makes no sense. Nevertheless, Agostino would really all keep them on the farm. If meat, then with care and respect … with Le Moline we have found a producer who represents and promotes this philosophy. The products are unique, not only in taste.
TerraTuscia
Meat
Le Moline offers quality meat from selected breeds of cattle and pigs, such as the Cinta Senese black pig, the Angus and the Hereford.
A careful combination of hay pasture and organic grain ensures the well-being and healthy nutrition of the animals. All meat products are guaranteed to come from the animals on their own pastures.
Cured meats
Cinta Senese black pork sausage, ham, salami, coppa, pancetta and loin are just some of the specialties made by Le Moline. Here, too, optimal quality and care are guaranteed.
Marmelades and Honey
The season and the weather determine the variety of marmelades they offer. Apple, pear, quince, melangolo orange and raspberries are available depending on the season. The work of the bees is supported by beekeepers.
Olive Oil Extra Vergine
The certified organic olive oil is produced cold-pressed in the Frantoio della Cooperazione Cesare Battisti, which grandfather Bino co-founded.
