Pian del Grano
The property “Pian del Grano” is located in the middle of beautiful landscape high above Lake Bolsena. You can see soft hills, the beautiful lake and the picturesque little village Grotte di Castro, built on tuff.
Born in Beirut 1952 (a long time ago), followed by many years of study, work and travel spanning four continents, I wanted to fulfill a dream of mine at the end of my career. I can only say that life has always been generous in showing me the way which brings me my goal. At some point it sent me to Alta Tuscia, to this place blessed by Heaven.
Guests can choose between apartments or guest rooms, all beautifully decorated with a lot of attention to detail. The large terrace, the garden, the BBQ place and various places on the property invite to lounge, relax or simply enjoy the beautiful view.
The breathtaking beauty of the region here has inspired me to reinvent mysel. After having been a doctor, taking care of people`s health all my life, I now wanted to try to become a farmer. The biological farm which I have founded is actually also taking care of people´s health. It should contribute, even in a small way , to protect nature as well as economic and social development of the beautiful region.
The lounge with open fire place offers a spectactular setting designed in wood and glas. The border is fading between outside and inside.
Joseph welcomes and takes care of the guests and is the heart and soul of Pian de Grano. He prepares the delicious breakfast in his cosy farmhouse kitchen. The ingredients are fresh from the organic farm. Whatever else is needed for breakfast comes from the immediate surrounding.
I am convinced, that we do have the preconditions to be succesful. It is good to see, that the protection of the environment and eventually the quality of life is playing a more and more important role in the collective consciousness. Which can also be seen in many initiatives which are practically realizing environmental protection. That is the way to bring about change. With my agriturismo and my laboratory to process biological farm products, I try to make my contribution.
The sustainable energy concept of the agriturismo is based on photovoltaic. The farm produces a.o. zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes, peppers, salad, figs, berries, cherries, plums, olives as well as chickpeas and lentils in soil-preserving alternating organic cultivation. Whatever the garden and the land has to offer, is also available to the guests.
Delicious jams, soups, chutneys and hummus are being perpared in their own certified industrial laboratory, depending on season and cultivation.
Pian del Grano can host events up to 240 people with external catering.
